WEEK 7
Hi everyone, Week 7 is here already!  Apologies for the long wait between blogs; Mrs deJong has been busy earning her computer skills wings while learning how to put photos and videos onto the blog.  (Some of us have a bit of catching up to do!)

ROOM 8 ASSEMBLY
Thank you so much to family and friends who came along and supported the children of Room 8 at their first syndicate assembly. It was really heartwarming to see so many of you there. We had a lot of positive feedback on how the children really looked like they were enjoying themselves during the items. I'm glad, because they certainly put a lot of hours into practising!
Here are some photos and videos of the day - thanks so much to Arabella's mum and Caio's dad for their contributions...

Dan the man finishing his awesome reading

Crazy class photos! We didn't get everyone, but we tried!

Getting the circle ready to start "We Will Rock You"

Bella and Caio did a fantastic job of controlling an enthusiastic audience!

Dan the man again in mid speech. He ended up getting a certificate in the school assembly for his courage while speaking to a large crowd.

Those nutty Room 8 people again...

Our wonderful script readers with their scripts!

The arm roll...

Slapping thighs to the cool beat...

Aarush, our "Bucket Boy". He really enjoyed making the audience laugh, he said!

Video of Aarush's Bucket Filling speech. It was fantastic and a lot of people would have learned something from what Aarush had to say.

A bit of video of the song.

CLASSROOM HELP:
If anyone has some time to spare, there are a few jobs (some big, some small) that would be of enormous help if someone wouldn't mind putting their hand up:

**Sharpening pencils in the group boxes, and giving them a general clean out
**Putting away home readers in the Junior and senior Resource Rooms
**Painting a mural background of a rocky shore rock pool setting. (I have the pictures that you could use as a guide. Paint, brushes and mural paper would be provided - TIME is the golden ingredient!)

Please come and see me or email if you think you could help. THANK YOU!!!

NETBALL:
Arron Leity has asked that I put this link on the blog to inform you of the Netball organisation for the upcoming season:

HOMEWORK:
It's been SO encouraging to see a lot of people improving on their basic facts homework. we had at least 3 people move up after last Friday's tests - goes to show practise DOES make perfect! Thank you parents for your support; it makes a MASSIVE difference if you can get on board with this. Let's keep up the practising of our basic facts, spelling and reading so we can keep seeing those awesome results!!  Go Room 8!!!

AWARDS/REWARDS:
Student Of The Week:  Well done to Reuben for gaining the medal and certificate last week. Your improving focus has been noticed by everyone in Room 8, and it's going to have a positive effect on your learning if you keep it up - woohoo!

Arahoe Values Card: Well done to Elise for showing the value of Excellence as she showed her groove while practising for our assembly dance during EVERY practise - that girl's got the moves!!!

School Assembly Class Award: Well done to Daniel Shaw for his extreme bravery in reading his holiday writing to approximately 300 people at our Room 8 assembly. This would have taken nerves of steel, and Dan pulled it off like a professional!

Bye for now!
